DIAGNOSTIC TEST-SEMESTER 4

Diagnostic test
Introduction
Diagnostic tests are those designed to identify and investigate the difficulties, disabilities and inadequacies of the pupils in specific fields before they become serious problems to themselves and the teacher. A diagnostic  test is intended to measure a larger number of abilities, interests and skills, than an achievement test is intended to measure. Diagnostic tests helps to overcome the difficulties through remedial teaching. ....

Purpose of Diagnostic test
Educational measurement has two essential aspects. How much content has been learnt is assessed by an achievement test. Why a particular learner could not learn the whole content, the special aspects leading to the difficulty etc are identified by a diagnostic test..
Steps in the construction of a diagnostic test
Purposeful planning
Analysis of teaching units
Sequential  order
Division of items into small sections
Clear instructions
Characteristics of a diagnostic test

Levels of diagnostic test
Diagnostic tests help to find out the pupil who need help
The nature and the area of difficulties
...
Benefits of diagnostic test
As you may have summarised diagnostic assessment benefits both the instructor and the students. .....
Conclusion
I have taken English class for 9th  std students at PKS HSS KKANJIRAMKULAM . There many students studied well and in average level. Several students were very poor in reading and writing. But I could realise that they showed  a bit of improvement. So I gave special attention to the students.
